My greatest adventure

Hello everyone, hope you are all okay.

So in 2011, I was given the opportunity to go on a residential trip to Wales and stay at a resort type place in Aberdovey. The place was called Outward Bound and is a outside based activity centre. Me and about 10 other people in my year had this opportunity, and we stayed for about 5 days near the end of April.

When we had arrived at the centre we were greeted by our instructor, Rhys. There were many other schools there as well but we hardly interacted with them, and we hardly had any time to do so. Anyway, the first thing our instructor Rhys made us do was the "jog an dip" which entailed jogging down to the beach, and dipping our whole body into the water. Although I did hate this exercise, I did understand its purpose: to wake us up and feel refreshed.

So as the week went on, we did so many activities. Things like "leap of faith", using a big skipping rope, trying to crawl through a rope web without touching the rope, sailing and loads of other team building exercises. However, one of the best activities that we did was climb the 3000 foot Cader Idris mountain. This took us all day to climb, and once we reached the top it was incredible, cold but incredible. We stayed at the summit all night. Half of the group slept outside whilst the other half, including me, slept in a brick shelter. It was very tiring climbing the mountain, with steep steps and hills, not mention a very heavy and huge ruck sake that I had to carry. The trip down the mountain was much easier but still rather exhausting. It felt like I had been walking for days, and to make things more exhausting, the sun was out and was quite hot.

All in all, the trip was incredible, I became close to some of the girls that I wouldn't normally talk to, and brought me closer to my existing friends. I tried things that I never thought I could ever do, and gave me so much confidence. It honestly was the most amazing thing I have ever done, even to this day, nothing beats it. It was such a great experience and I am so grateful to have been given that opportunity.

So if you are ever given such an opportunity such as Outward Bound I really suggest you grab it and take it. It will be the best time of your life, and you will meet new people and experience such great things!

Have you already been to Outward Bound or are planning on going? Let me know how you felt about it! Here are some pictures to show what I did and a few of the view!
